Barajas is the capital airport and it is about 10 km away from the city. From the airport to the city you can take:
Metro - Line 8: from the airport to Mar de Cristal station, which is connected to lines 4, 6 and 10, which arrive to the city centre.
Bus: there is a direct service to Plaza de Colón. The buses depart every ten minutes approximately and the trip takes about half an hour.
Taxi: you will find a long queue of taxis waiting at the exit of the airport. Inside the airport you will see the approximate prices for the taxi services from the airport to the city centre.
BY TRAIN
Currently, the train service concentrates on two international stations: Atocha and Chamartín. The Atocha Station is the most central one but if that you want is to get to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, we recommend you to use the Chamartín Station. There are direct bus services to Madrid from all the province capitals and main towns. Their point of arrival is usually the south station (Estación del Sur)
